Denominational and Interfaith Connections
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo (UUCB) is affiliated with national, regional, and district Unitarian Universalist organizations and with three Buffalo-area interfaith organizations.
Denominational Affiliations
UUCB is a “Fair Share Congregation” of the Unitarian Universalist Association (www.uua.org) and of the St. Lawrence District (www.sld.uua.org). The St. Lawrence district includes congregations in New York and northern Pennsylvania. UUCB is also a member of the recently formed Central East Regional Group (CERG; www.cerguua.org), a cooperative of four UUA districts who share resources and staff to better serve their congregations. CERG includes congregations in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, northern Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio.
Local Affiliations
In the Buffalo area, UUCB is a member of the Network of Religious Communities (NRC). NRC (http://www.religiousnet.org) is a consolidation and expansion of the former Buffalo Area Council of Churches (1854) and the Buffalo Area Metropolitan Ministries (1975). Members include denominations/faith coordinating bodies, religious organizations and congregations serving Western New York and the Niagara Peninsula of Southern Ontario, Canada. NRC is a forum providing opportunities for cooperative ventures, the strengthening of our religious communities and the betterment of the community as a whole. Religious communities are encouraged to develop links with similar faith communities for cooperative programming, the sharing of resources and mutual support.
